A Message from the President

There will be no harp circle this Saturday, March 8th.

We have tried for the better part of a year to keep MSHC going. It is abundantly clear that we do not have enough people who are interested and/or committed to the group in order to continue. This is not a criticism, just reality. Circumstances change and I know some of us have work commitments that take priority, some of us have a multitude of things with which to divide our freetime, some of us have family commitments, some of us have health issues, etc. We have tried meeting every other month but that did not improve participation. We cannot continue in limbo and hope that attendance will pick up.

In essence, Mystic Strings Harp Circle is disolving, at least for now. I will no longer reserve the library so we can meet monthly or every other month. Perhaps after a hiatus of sorts, there will be renewed interest so I do not want to say this is the end of Mystic Strings completely, but for the forseable future we have ceased to exist.

I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of Mystic Strings since we formed in 2002. I have learned so much from each of you and have enjoyed the camaraderie, sharing a passion for harping, and making music. You have all brought so much to the group and I thank you for sharing.

I would like to give special mention to a few individuals. Thank you to Carol Hall and Barb Eichler for helping share in the administration of our harp circle. Thank you to Cait Davison who worked ceaselessly with me to build a beautiful website after many “prototypes” and roughly a year of consulting through email. As officers of the group, I came to depend on you. Your hard work and assistance was always most appreciated.

Also a most heartfelt thank you to Barb Fackler who supported our harp circle from Day One. Your encouragement to our group, your workshop on ensemble playing and the beautiful arrangements that you allowed us to play will be treasured memories of this experience. Thank you for all you did for our harp circle.

Thanks again everyone for an amazing experience. When I started this harp circle, I was afraid to play in public or take my harp out of the house. If anyone is interested in the occassional harp get together let me know. I hope to see many of you at Great Lakes Harpers conventions.
