Somerset Harp Conference

In addition to the Harp Therapy Gathering in July, Carole Krysan also attended the Somerset Folk Harp Festival in Somerset, NJ, July 21-24.
Carol says she found it to be a wonderful experience and the best such festival she has been to – well-organized, with a variety of workshop choices including a special group identified as “Especially for Beginners.”
There were informal mini-concerts at 5:30 PM each day plus evening performances by the likes of Patrick Ball, Kim Robertson, and a delightful young man, Nicolas Carter, who played Latin music on a Paraguayan harp.
Carole especially enjoyed taking part in an “after the concert” jam session led by Stephanie Curcio. Stephanie also gave one of Carole’s favorite workshops on harp and piano. Since she frequently gets together with piano-playing friends, Carole found this most helpful.
Somerset moves West in 2006 to California, but will be back in New Jersey in 2007. Somerset, New Jersey is about a twelve hour drive from Chicago and well-worth it according to Carole!
