Is Your Harp Ready for Winter?
Posted Sep 15, 2004 and filed under General.
As autumn begins, not only are the leaves dropping, but the temperatures are too. As we begin to heat our homes to keep them warm, now might be the time to make sure your harp is ready for cooler weather and winter conditions.
Here are some Harp Care Reminders for the coming season:
- Your harp likes the same environment you do.
- Do not place your harp near a radiator or heating vent.
- Do not place your harp in direct sunlight.
- Invest in a humidifier for the room with your harp. You should turn on your humidifier when you turn on your heat.
- Harps should be maintained at 40-60% humidity. Too much humidity is just as damaging as too little humidity.
- When transporting your harp, always remember to pre-heat your car in damp or cold weather.
- Always use your harp cover when traveling in winter, extra blankets are also useful.
Remember, if you are uncomfortable, so is your harp. Let’s have a safe winter and happy harping!
